Malaysia 2004 Diorama – Complete Gallery
The final instalment of the Jenson Button gallery brings him to his first podium finish at the Malaysian Grand Prix in 2004.
Having missed out at the same race in 2002, Button was released by Renault at the end of the season to make way for Flávio Briatore’s protégé, Fernando Alonso. This saw Button joining Jacques Villeneuve at BAR Honda for the 2003 season, where he asserted himself well against the 1997 World Champion, who himself was replaced before the end of the year by Takuma Sato, making Button the de facto team leader.
2004 saw Button finally start to fulfil his potential, taking a clutch of podiums during the season and finishing the year 3rd in the World Championship behind the all-conquering Ferrari team.
This kit was built in 2005, from a Tameo/Silverline kit, with another Denizen figure. This was the first kit where I experimented with carbon fibre decals, which I used to cover the entire front wing, floor and rear wings.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these Jenson Button kits “from the archive”, next update will be back on the Suzuka 1989 diorama.
