Monaco 2002 Diorama – Complete Gallery
Continuing the theme of Jenson Button’s F1 career, here is a mini-diorama I made back in 2003/04 from a now deleted Provence Moulage kit of the Renault R202.
After a lack-lustre performance at Benetton Renault in 2001, Button survived Flávio Briatore’s attempts to replace him in what was now the Renault works team for 2002. Joined by a new teammate, Jarno Trulli, 2002 saw an upturn in Button’s form, and he was extremely unlucky to be denied his first ever podium appearance at the Malaysian Grand Prix when he suffered suspension failure in the last lap whilst running in a solid 3rd position.
As ever, the figures in the diorama are from Denizen, and again are hand painted without the assistance of any decals. The Provence Moulage kit went together very nicely, it’s a real shame that the company no longer produce their resin-bodied kits.
