Melbourne 2009 Diorama – Jenson Button Tribute

The vast majority of the models I make are from the 1980’s and 1990’s, but every now and then I venture nearer to the present, as I did with kit of the Brawn BGP01 which I started in 2010, and finally finished in 2015.

The reason I built this model was as a tribute to Jenson Button, the 2009 World Champion. I have been a fan of Button’s since he made his debt for BMW-Williams in 2000, and have been fortunate enough to meet him twice.

When he announced at this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix that he will not be driving in Formula 1 in 2017, I felt compelled to share this gallery as a tribute to my favourite driver of the current generation.

A great champion, and a gentleman. We’ll miss you Jenson.
